The first step is to figure out if your skin has warm or cool undertones. There are a few ways to do this. One is to check the color of your veins. People with warm skin tones typically have veins that appear greenish in color. If your veins look blue or purple, you probably have cool undertones. Your eye and hair color are also good indicators of your skin tone. If your eyes are blue, grey or green and your hair is blonde or brown, you likely have cool undertones, whereas people with brown, amber or hazels eyes and strawberry blonde, red, brown or black hair usually have warm undertones. The sun’s effects on your skin can also indicate your skin’s undertones. If you tend to turn pink or burn before you tan, you’re probably cool-toned, whereas if your skin turns golden brown in the sun you’re most likely warm-toned.
